February 15, 2019 Team Henselite star Julie Forrest is the new queen of indoor bowls after being crowned World Indoor Singles Ladies Champion for 2019. With a record extending seven Scottish Indoor Singles title to her name she extended her remarkable run of success with a fantastic performance at the World Championships at Potters. After defeating defending champion and fellow Team Henselite stablemate Katherine Rednall in the semi-final, Julie faced Channel Islands star Alison Merrion in a scintillating final, winning 2-0 in sets. The win included a pressure packed last bowl 'take-out' that was played to perfection with her trusty Henselite Tiger PRO bowls. After a jump for joy an elated Julie then paid tribute to her opponent for her excellent play in a match that enthralled both local and TV audiences. An emotional Julie commented "this was the one title that had eluded me and to now be crowned World Champion is a dream come true". Julie's ability to play all the shots at the right time was a feature of her performance and she commented "I was confident that the bowl I was playing with (Tiger PRO) was ideal for my game on the portable rink and as every bowler knows it is then all down to personal performance". |
